Despite its common occurrence affecting up to
10%-14% of new fathers 6 to 12 months after a child birth; paternal postnatal
(PPND) is not usually recognized or treated. Like major depressive disorder(MDD) the treatment of PPND may require the combination of psychopharmacology,
psychotherapy, social and spiritual intervention.

Most clinical guidelines
recommend cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as the psychotherapy of choice
alone or combined with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or
serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) for the treatment of MDD.
The presence of maternal postpartum depression (MPPD) and marital discord are
